Schulgartenprojekt

School Garden Project

The school garden at PVS Ettenreichgasse 1100 is a vibrant meeting point where pupils, teachers and parents dig, sow, rummage, taste and learn together. School takes shape here as a shared space — between generations, species and ideas. The project is part of Common Ecologies, an international research and practice project on ecosocial education that Manuela Zechner has developed together with many practitioners across the Eastern Mediterranean, the Iberian Peninsula, the British and Irish Isles, German-speaking countries and South Africa. As a concrete example, the school garden project has fed into the handbook Ways into Ecosocial Education: the book — a work that speaks to teachers, parents, activists and institutional actors alike, because ecosocial education always thinks both together: the ecological and the social. The handbook is freely available to download: commonecologies.net/publications/ways-into-ecosocial-education-the-book/
