Für die nächste Ausgabe unserer Reihe, arbeiten wir, Spice Mixers, mit dem Kollektiv Augend&Addend zusammen, um einen Abend mit Live-Shows und DJ-Sets zu gestalten. Wir freuen uns mit dieser Kollaboration neue Formen des künstlerischen Austauschs und gemeinsamen solidarischen Feierns zwischen Clubkultur und Performance anzubieten.
Das gemeinsame Projekt versteht sich als Erweiterung unserer bisherigen Arbeit: Wir organisieren alternative Veranstaltungsräume, wie auch diesmal im Otto Wagner Areal an dem wir eigene Strukturen aufbauen und ausprobieren können. So entstehen sichere und zugängliche Räume, in denen unsere antirassistischen und queer-feministischen Werte auch im Awarenesskonzept umgesetzt werden können. Das ist oftmals in klassischen Clubumgebungen nur eingeschränkt möglich.
Der Abend bringt Live-Shows und DJ-Sets in einen gemeinsamen Dialog. Zu Gast sind der Dub-Poet und Londoner Underground-Star James Massiah, die portugiesische Komponistin, Sängerin, Klangkünstlerin und Príncipe-Mitglied XEXA sowie eine Reihe versierter lokaler DJs, darunter die Kurator*in, Dozent*in und Selektor*in Tonica Hunter, die Tänzer*in und Schlagzeuger*in Mursal sowie মm. von Spice Mixers und Mara Never von Augend&Addend.
Here, time folds in on itself & our bodies. we hear for sounds which you believe precede our movements, relegated to memories left behind. but they’ve been here all along. our bodies are memorials plunged into the present, wearing facades of disintegrating structures. our necks remain craned; ears pointed towards cracks behind plastered walls; and feet ready to strike. when the first kick lands, know that it’s been festering & coming into existence all along.
Augend&Addend ist eine Eventreihe, die sich mit dem Versuch der niederschwelligen Präsentation zeitgenössischer Musik- und Performance-Tendenzen beschäftigt. Festgefahrene Gleichungen sollen aufgelöst & Modalitäten verhandelt werden. Das Projekt wurde von Winona Hudec und Mara Never Waldhör ins Leben gerufen und fand zum ersten Mal im Sommer 2021 statt. Das Feld der Verortung formiert sich durch ein Spektrum von Leftfield- und performativen Ansätzen, welche sich mit der Überbrückung des Digitalen und Analogen im Club, Konzert und Performance Setting auseinandersetzen. Bei diesen transmedialen Zugängen liegt für Augend&Addend der Fokus stets auf transformativen und inklusiven Sprechpositionen.

For the next edition of our series, we, Spice Mixers, are collaborating with the collective Augend&Addend to organize an evening of live shows and DJ sets. We are excited to offer new forms of artistic exchange and joint solidarity celebrations between club culture and performance through this collaboration.
The joint project is an extension of our previous work: We organize alternative event spaces, such as this time at the Otto Wagner Areal, where we can build and test our own structures. This creates safe and accessible spaces where our anti-racist and queer-feminist values can also be implemented in the awareness concept. This is often only possible to a limited extent in classic club environments.
The evening brings live shows and DJ sets into a joint dialogue. Welcoming: dub poet and London Underground luminary James Massiah; Portuguese composer, vocalist, sound artist and Príncipe affiliate XEXA; alongside a lineup of versed local DJs namely curator, lecturer and selector Tonica Hunter dancer and drummer Mursal as well as Spice Mixers’ own মm. and Augend&Addend’s Mara Never.

Augend&Addend is an event that presents contemporary music and performance tendencies. The aim is to break down entrenched equations and negotiate modalities. The project was launched by Winona Hudec and Mara Never Waldhör and took place for the first time in the summer of 2021. The curatorial and artistic focus is formed by a spectrum of leftfield and performative approaches that deal with bridging the digital and analog in club, concert, and performance settings. With these multidisciplinary approaches, Augend&Addend always concentrates on transformative and inclusive positions of speech.
