From 18–20 June 2026, LoCD (Library of Civil Disobedience) will activate a sequence of three site specific interventions and performances across Vienna, unfolding over three consecutive days and engaging distinct urban locations. Rather than occupying sites as neutral stages, the project enters into dialogue with places whose urban and political histories carry traces of resistance, collective memory, public struggle, and forms of social imagination. Each intervention responds to the historical layers, symbolic meanings, and contemporary political resonances of its location. Through temporary acts of presence in streets, passages, and public spaces, participating artists approach the city not as a fixed backdrop but as a living archive—continuously shaped through contestation, collective action, and processes of transformation. Across three evenings, the interventions open temporary spaces for encounter, reflection, and collective imagination, connecting different geographies of resistance throughout Vienna. All interventions begin at 6:00 PM.
INTERVENTION II
Cortina and Sister

Duelo Colectivo (Collective Mourning) is a participatory anti monument dedicated to victims of feminicide and gender based violence worldwide. Constructed from fragile and recycled materials, the work evolves through public participation. During the intervention, visitors are invited to contribute names, messages, memories, and testimonies, transforming the structure into a living collective archive.
Rooted in the context of feminicide in Mexico while connecting to broader global realities of gender based violence, the project creates a space for remembrance, mourning. resistance, and solidarity. Rather than offering a fixed monument, Duelo Colectivo remains open, unfinished, and continually reshaped by those who take part.
Cortina is a Mexican multidisciplinary artist whose practice spans performance, sculpture, muralism, installation, urban intervention, and community based art. Working with recycled and precarious materials, she explores themes of migration, memory, violence, body politics, and collective resistance.
Ni Una Menos Platz (9th District / Alsergrund)
The second intervention unfolds at Ni Una Menos Platz, a site that carries references to feminist resistance and transnational struggles against gender-based violence. Drawing from the politics of public assembly and collective visibility, participating artists engage the square as a place where memory, protest, and social imagination intersect. The intervention reflects on public space as a terrain of care, dissent, and political presence.
